“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you – because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.
Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”

Rolls Royce Motor Cars launch gorgeous new site
Great new website by AKQA for Rolls Royce Motor Cars – and it’s a site worth spending some time on – if only to marvel at what RR has been upto recently..
Alice Cicolini
We’re huge fans of british jeweller, designer and creative commissioner Alice Cicolini.

Her jewellery is inspired by the sacred architecture and patterns of the Silk Route, and is handmade in India in the studio of one of the last Jaipuri meenakari trained in the enamel traditions of Persia.

Alice has recently joined forces with Valery Demure, launching their relationship in the intoxicating surroundings of the Hotel D’Evreux, Place Vendome, and showing her meenakari and Summer Snow collections at Paris Couture for the first time.
Range Rover Sentinel
Land Rover has unveiled its “fortress on wheels,” the new Range Rover Sentinel.

The vehicle, which the brand bills as a “mobile fortress,” is designed to withstand 7.62mm high velocity, armor piercing incendiary bullets, 15kg TNT blasts and DM51 grenade explosions that target either the underside of the vehicle or its body.

The Range Rover Sentinel starts at approximately £300k. Built to special order, it will make its debut at the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) Show in lieu of more traditional car shows.
Karl Largerfeld to open new Hotel
Karl Lagerfeld and Macau casino operator Sociedade de Jogos de Macau (SJM) have announced plans for the Chanel designer to create his first hotel.

The 270-room Karl Lagerfeld hotel, being developed under the brand Karl Lagerfeld Greater China, will open in 2017 in a 20-story Macau tower.

The Lisboa Palace complex will also include a previously announced Versace-themed hotel.

What Defines a Luxury Hotel?
Large hotels initially set the standard for luxury, and were defined by large rooms, beds, marble bathrooms and of course an exclusive location.

Luxury in 2015, however, is being redefined and five star hotels are being reworked. This trend is being directed by changing demographics that are pushing for more consumer choice, a strong millennial market and a need to compete with the rise of boutique hotels.

Lunch at The Beaumont
We had a wonderful lunch and show-around at The Beaumont this week.

Chris Corbin and Jeremy King have for decades created restaurants – The Ivy, The Wolsely – all famous for delivering a glamorous vibe. Well The Beaumont is their first hotel which opened at the end of 2014 and we have been itching for an excuse to get inside.

The space itself is Selfridges’ old Grade II listed garage – which doesn’t sound like much, but only the facade still exists from the old days and now it feels marvelously like an Art Deco gentleman’s club. We particularly loved Jimmy’s Bar (wood-paneled with an amazing collection of B/W portraits) which will become a favourite for future Change Nation nights out..

The Colony Grill Room was excellent for lunch – although someone seemed to have greased the floor for the poor waiters. The food was good, rather than excellent. Good for people watching as it buzzed at near capacity throughout lunch with a good mix of clientele.

The rooms were generally lovely – although we preferred the smaller warmer studios to the slightly colder suites.

Sadly we missed out on seeing Antony Gormley’s famed ‘Room’ – housed within the 3 story sculpture which juts out from the front of the hotel…Maybe next time.

Mayfair, London.
